Hi! We are Franziska Curtlandt and Karolina Svensson, two friends that share the same passion - to
paint. A decade ago we met in Hamburg Germany, where both of us were raised, and formed a friendship
in which we discovered how fantastically we complement each other.
Our backgrounds and art styles are so different, yet it’s the art that unites us. While Franziska´s art tends
to be very soft and gentle, Karolina´s paintings are often an explosion of colours.

The love of painting and creating creative expressions through different types of pictures has always been part of Franziska´s life. Already as a child she painted big paintings together with her father, which still hang on the wall until this day. It is no surprise that Franziska´s everlasting passion to paint would be the driver of her professional career.
Born and raised in the middle of Hamburg, Germany, she moved further north for her studies at different art schools. Her first step was the Muthesius Art School in Kiel, Germany, where she was fascinated about the rough nature of the ocean and the wild landscapes. After collecting experiences around the world she moved to Copenhagen to study at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art School of Design. The northern art and design as well as the northern landscapes have shaped her mind ever since. For her they mean space and light, as well as darkness.
Today Franziska lives and works in Hamburg again and is a loving mother of two. Or three, if you want to count her dog Bootsmann in. With her paintings Franziska wants to create space, light and a feeling of freedom. She would like to inspire to look and notice the huge and wild space around us and the different emotions and the feeling that the airspace and nature around us can bring. She loves to explore textures in her work and employ different fabrics and textures of colours that bring different luminosity and softness into her work.
For Karolina there have always been two passions in her life - painting and animals. As a child she painted every single animal she found in her big animal lexicon that she owned back then. For a while painting fainted into a memory somewhere in back of her mind. With her studies of Tourism & Event Management as well as Business, Management and Administration Karolina decided to go the corporate way. Since 2013 she has worked in IT start-ups and entrepreneurship. It was not until a 2+ year world trip that her mindset shifted once again. Travelling the world and seeing all the beauty and the wildlife, it was as she arrived back into a forgotten world, all of the sudden she was back inside this animal lexicon that she adored so much as a child.
After returning to Europe and settling in Amsterdam, she picked up the brush again. Over the years painting became an integral part of her life again. Karolina´s curiosity for different art styles lets her experiment and try new things continuously. She also likes to work with textures, different paints and art mediums. With her artwork she invites to explore the beauty, brightness, joy and depth that we can find around and within us, if we allow ourselves to look closely. Since 2021 Karolina has been based on the Italian Island Sardinia, where she finds inspiration to paint everywhere she looks. Living with her partner and all their dogs (4-10 - depending on the amount they foster) in the countryside close to the sea was a dream come true, as well as being able to make a change in the area through animal welfare work.
